What if the biggest obstacle to your team's performance isn't skill or strategy? What if it has more to do with your team being survival mode?
In this video, Jonathan breaks down a core idea: raising a team's "consciousness" — simply defined as their level of awareness — helps them solve stuck problems more easily and leads to real leaps in performance.
The key to this shift is getting your team out of survival mode. When a team feels threatened (by stakeholders, leadership, or even each other), stress hormones kick in and awareness narrows to just the perceived threat. Ironically, this is when teams see fewer options, not more — awareness shrinks instead of grows.
The fix isn't to eliminate stress entirely, but to help teams learn to self-regulate, both individually and collectively. As stress chemistry decreases, curiosity returns, and teams start seeing possibilities they couldn't access before. That shift fuels more innovation, more creativity, and over time, a stronger culture of trust.
The result: teams get more done in less time, what Jonathan calls a "quantum leap" in performance.
Importantly, this doesn't mean teams stop slipping into survival mode altogether. It means they learn to recognize it faster and choose to move out of it, because they now understand how much more is possible on the other side.
